Biography:

I was born in Penetanguishene and raised at North West Basin On, I am a descendent of strong Metis people from Drummond Island Gendron, Larammee, Cloutier and speak Metis, French and English.

I have been the Women Representative on the Georgian Bay Metis Council for 15 years (2005
-2020) and I have the Honour of being a member of the Metis Nation Ontario Women Council Representing Region 7 since 2018.

These are just a few of my accomplishments with Georgian Bay Metis Council as Women Representative:

Manage the Georgian Bay Council Metis Shoppe (Purchase and Sales) Lead Council Workshops, Skill Development: Sewing (Ribbon Skirts, Vest, Bags, Shawls) Metis Mittens with embroidery, Feather Carriers, beading leather work (making bags) using leather tools, Drumming Circle (2008-2014), Porcupine Earrings.

Established a Georgian Bay Metis Women Circle to Fundraise 2011. We funded and published a cookbook by selling advertising to raise funds to make the cookbook. We had Zero Dollars to start. Within 2 weeks we had $750.00 sold to business to advertise in our cookbook. Lots of hard work handwritten recipes and 6 months later we had a cookbook that sold out and went to second printing. The money raised through the sales of this cookbook goes towards the well-being of Georgian Bay Metis Women.

Each year we hold a craft and bake sale to raise funds in November. Every year gets better and these ladies are an awesome to work with. Anyone wanting to join a workshop to learn a new skill or volunteer on a committee please contact me.

There is still so much we can do together.

Patricia (Grisdale) Taylor GBMC Women Representative.
